Technical FAQ

Machining Enquiry FAQs

Practical answers to help you prepare a clear machining enquiry and technical review.

What information should I provide for a machining enquiry?

Send the drawing or CAD file when available, together with material, quantity, approximate dimensions and weight, critical tolerances or features, and the required delivery date.

How do you determine whether a large or heavy component is suitable for machining?

Suitability is reviewed against the component dimensions, weight, required machining envelope, setup and fixturing needs, and the Gantry machine capacity. Final acceptance follows technical review.

Can welded or fabricated structures be finish-machined after fabrication?

Yes, where the fabricated structure and required final dimensions are suitable for the available setup. Typical work can include base surfaces, datums, mounting interfaces and hole patterns.

Can existing or repaired components be modified or re-machined?

Yes, subject to technical review of the component condition and repair requirement. This may include dimensional correction, surface restoration, approved feature modification and final re-machining.

How are critical dimensions and inspection requirements handled?

Critical dimensions and features are identified during technical review and machining planning, followed by dimensional checks during execution and final verification before handover.

How are customer drawings and CAD files handled confidentially?

Customer drawings and technical files are handled for enquiry review and project execution with controlled access. Confidential subcontracting and customer relationship protection are part of our working approach.
